Our history

La Ruota d'Oro was born in the second half of the sixties from an idea of Salvatore Piga, an innovative bar formula for those times, located on the ex highway 131 used to be some way from autogrill, the name derives from the fact that in those days the cyclists passed the structure of the Giro d'Italia and of the then Giro di Sardegna.

Over time it became a point of reference for all those who went to Cagliari and for hunters who frequented it for breakfast and used it as a meeting point.
Over the years it undergoes various transformations and expansions, until the early 70s when with the opening of the kitchen for fast meals and of the pizzeria, it also became a reference point for Cagliari fans who arrived from all over the Island and stopped at La Ruota d'Oro for a quick snack.

In the 80s, following the modification of the route of the state road, the structure underwent its final transformation into a restaurant.

Today, under the management and guidance of his daughter Titty, La Ruota d'Oro is changing further, transforming itself to keep up with the times by reducing the surface area of the restaurant to create an accommodation with 5 rooms, becoming an inn and, in respect of the tradition desired by the founder, it becomes La Locanda d'Oro.
